About Us

On the west coast of Newfoundland, The Bookshop NL was created to share a love of books with the community of Corner Brook.  The lack of options and accessibility to purchase books and book-related gifts locally was noted and therefore, a passion for books turned into a need filled.  While the demand is being tested out online, there are plans to have a brick-and-mortar bookshop once the right location shows itself.  The Bookshop NL plans to launch live October 1, 2023.

Meet The Owner

Hi! Welcome to The Bookshop NL! I'm Jennifer Shepherd, a Registered Nurse, turned Stay-at-Home Mom, turned Entrepreneur. I'm so excited to bring this sweet little bookshop to life and get some amazing books and merchandise to fellow Newfoundlanders who are local to me and those living across Canada.

I am an avid book reader, and I believe that book reading and shopping are two SEPARATE hobbies! You'll find some great books in the pre-loved section from both my personal collection and generous donors.

My favorite books to read are Romance and Fantasy! I love sharing my love for reading with my family and friends alike! Be sure to give us a follow on Instagram @thebookshopnl

Building Community

It can be difficult to find unique products and books in Newfoundland. Our goal is to provide accessibility to these awesome items via the website but offer a local pickup option. We aim to support local entrepreneurs with our gifts section, but some products have been outsourced to other areas outside of Newfoundland. Pricing has been set in hopes of making books and gifts not only accessible but affordable. You may notice a stamp or a mark on the top or bottom of the book which could mean it was a publishers’ excess book, which is unread and guaranteed to be in great condition and therefore, will not be listed at new book prices. It's not un-loved, it just means they've moved onto new places to rest their pages. Sharing our website, tagging us in your posts, and referring people our way is the best kinda support for our small business and community. Also be sure to check out a Little Free Library in your area, if you need a place other than the library to share and take free books.
